This print commemorates the Peace Officers' Memorial Service that takes place each year at the Capitol in Washington DC during Police Week. This service allows friends and family of each fallen officer the opportunity to honor their memory in a special ceremony where they receive the Medal of Honor for their Supreme Sacrifice, the highest medal given by the FOP. They also place a carnation, one at a time, into the star of the Wreath, shown in the center of the print, as two officers stand on either side guarding it. Toward the end of the ceremony, everyone waves a blue ribbon and shortly thereafter, the Wreath representing all the officers is transported with the highest respect by Honor Guards from all over the United States. The Wreath is taken to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and placed there, where each of their names have been forever engraved to honor how they lived ... not how they died!
I am honored that the Fraternal Order of Police has allowed me to offer this print with their logo and the actual Medal of Honor on it ... so that we may all see this very special symbol of respect.
25% from the sale of each print will be given to the Fraternal Order of Police Auxillary to help pay for the actual service ... which has become a very important step in the healing process of the fallen officers' loved ones ... and all of us.

The inspiration for the Bald Eagle in this print actually came from Vicky Alexander who's husband, Stuart, died in the line of duty in 2009. He always loved these majestic animals and what they represented. In this print, to me, the Eagle represents the officers' spirits flying free.
